UPDATE: A Massive Turnaround Thanks to Shawn & Daryl

I’m adding this update because, while the initial experience was a disaster, the way everything was handled in the end deserves real recognition.

Shawn is the reason this didn’t turn into a complete nightmare. After the repeated technical issues—wrong tire sizes, the rim mix-up—he stepped in and took full accountability. He wasn’t just managing from a distance; he was actively involved every step of the way. He stayed in constant contact (even after hours), sent photos of the new black Fuel rims before mounting them to make sure I was happy, and personally committed to going over the truck in detail himself.

He didn’t make excuses about the unauthorized mileage either—he focused on making things right and delivering the truck exactly as it should have been from the start.

If the rest of the staff operated with Shawn’s level of integrity and “no surprises” approach, this dealership would be on another level.

I also have to mention Daryl. When I joked about wanting a loaner I could “race,” he took that idea way more seriously than expected. At that point, I wasn’t sure if I was picking up a temporary vehicle or getting recruited into something questionable—but either way, he fully committed to the bit. His sense of humor and willingness to go above and beyond made a stressful situation a lot easier to deal with.

Bottom line: The sales department clearly has room to improve, but Shawn is someone you can trust. If you’re heading to Renfrew, deal with Shawn—he’ll make sure you’re properly taken care of.

BUYER BEWARE!

We previously purchased three vehicles here with no issues — which makes this experience with our fourth vehicle even more shocking. This has been one of the most incompetent, misleading, and unprofessional customer experiences we’ve ever had.

We originally came in to view a truck advertised online and worked with Cody. While polite, he misrepresented the vehicle, claiming it had “never seen the patch.” We personally knew the previous owner and knew that was completely false — the truck had clearly been used in the oil field.

Cody estimated my Jeep trade-in at $42,000, then disappeared and stopped responding.
Later, Travis contacted us and came back with a revised trade-in value of $31,000 — a sudden $11,000 drop with no reasonable explanation.

We booked an appointment and were passed to Austin, who suggested wrapping a Ram 2500 to get the color we wanted, along with a lift and larger tires. We agreed.

During the vehicle handover, Austin asked me for a cigarette and smoked while doing the walkaround. That alone says a lot about the level of professionalism here.

A few days later, we brought the truck back for a recall and modifications. The truck had approximately 640 km on it at drop-off.
They installed the WRONG tire size — 33s instead of the agreed 35s — and continued the pattern of only contacting my husband instead of me, despite me being the primary customer.

While my truck was away, I was given a loaner. After just four days, they called asking ME to do their job — taking odometer and condition photos so they could sell the loaner.
Two days later, they demanded it back and refused to deliver a replacement, even though I work under 6 km away.

When I returned to the dealership, staff claimed they didn’t have my phone number — despite years of purchases, service history, and the fact that they originally contacted me. That excuse is either dishonest or wildly incompetent.

After THREE WEEKS without my truck, we finally went to pick it up — only to find:
• The WRONG RIMS installed
• Austin admitted he likely ordered the wrong ones
• We were told replacements would take two more weeks

On top of that, when we picked up the truck, it had an additional 60km on it — with no clear explanation as to why our brand-new vehicle was being driven around.

It has now been THREE MORE WEEKS, and we STILL do not have the correct rims.
Chris was so amazing in helping my husband find his new jeep. He was as patient as a saint as we looked at multiple units debating what would suit our needs that in the end we BOTH ended up finding new rides. He worked hard to get us both the deal we wanted going well above and beyond.

He even took time on a day off to help me sort out some logistics before pick up. He will be my first call when I’m ready for my next truck.

I live in the lower mainland and my daughter is currently going to university in Calgary. She had just purchased a preowned Wrangler while on reading break. She drove it back to Calgary to find out she only had heat on the passenger side only. I normally look after my family’s vehicles with purchasing & servicing, my daughter wanting to show her independence from “the old guy” at home called Renfrew Chrysler to book her Jeep in for a diagnostic check. I assumed the worst and asked my daughter to have the service advisor call me. Brian Pink was her advisor, once I got past the Reservoir Dogs comments (IYKYK) Brian was amazing! He kept both myself & my daughter informed, had the Jeep in the shop, diagnosed, repaired and let me know what the plan would be in the future if any further HVAC issues arose. Brian you’ve put this dad at ease knowing my daughter’s Jeep servicing needs are in capable hands while attending school in Calgary.

The Standout Team: Caiden and Christian

​A great part of my experience was working with Caiden in Sales. He was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to provide all the necessary information for an informed decision. His approach was focused on finding the right vehicle for my needs rather than applying high-pressure sales tactics.

​Once the deal moved to the business office, Christian in Finance handled the transition seamlessly. Finance is often the most stressful part of a vehicle purchase, but Christian’s communication was proactive and top-tier. He kept me updated throughout the process and ensured all my questions were answered promptly.

​Areas for Operational Improvement;
​While the front-end service was exceptional, I did notice some administrative friction between departments. Specifically, the accounting and back-office processing felt significantly slower than the fast-paced, attentive service provided by Caiden and Christian. Improving the synergy between the sales floor and the administrative office would make for a truly flawless customer experience.

​Despite the slight administrative lag, the overall experience was excellent. The truck is fantastic, and the service from Caiden and Christian was among the best I’ve encountered in any type of purchasing situation.
I would certainly recommend seeking them out specifically for your next purchase.
